North Carolina’s Crystal Coast Wines & Dines Visitors During the Beaufort Wine and Food
March 29, 2006
EMERALD ISLE • ATLANTIC BEACH • MOREHEAD CITY • BEAUFORT • CAPE LOOKOUT, N.C. -- March 29, 2006 --Sponsored by Beaulieu Vineyard, the Beaufort Wine and Food Festival brings a sense of “spirit” to the Crystal Coast -- North Carolina’s Southern Outer Banks -- April 26-29, 2006. Known as the largest outdoor tented wine festival in North Carolina, the four-day event offers an array of activities from local succulent cuisine and friendly competitions to tasting more than 300 exotic and local wines and community artist demonstrations. Ringing in the second year of the event, Beaufort invites festivalgoers to participate in savoring wines from around the world and experiencing warm local hospitality. The charity event, benefiting Friends of the Museum and Beaufort Historic Association, kicks-off Wednesday with a welcome reception featuring cuisine from the Front Street Grill at Stillwater introducing hearty food with rural roots and an urban twist with fresh regional ingredients. All local restaurants are providing an element to the festival Thursday and Friday from hosting seminars and holding receptions to cooking classes and wine dinners. With four of the top U.S. wineries partaking in wine dinners at the festival this year, each winemaker is paired with a famed Beaufort chef and a regional guest chef concocting a dinner of epicurean magnitude, nicely complemented by wine provided by vintners. Offering tutorials by prestigious award-winning author, James Beard and the father of California cuisine and television host, John Ash, the festival includes a gutsy golf tournament, whimsical wine-pairing seminars, aromatic cooking instructions and exclusive local art. The event comes to a daunting close Saturday with a celebratory champagne brunch, intriguing cooking demonstrations and a distinctive VIP After Party. For those looking for accommodations while splurging on the spirits and tastes at the festival, the Crystal Coast offers vacationers a variety of lodging options to suit every lifestyle and budget from seaside cottages and massive beach mansions to oceanfront hotel accommodations and seaside bed and breakfast suites. Famous for 85-miles of shimmering beaches, crystalline blue water and lush maritime forests, North Carolina’s Crystal Coast along the Southern Outer Banks was designated as having “Clean and Healthy Beaches” by the Clean Beaches Council. The Crystal Coast is recognized among the best shipwreck diving destinations in the world by Scuba Diving magazine.
