Crystal Coast Receives Award for Letting “Imagination Run Free”
February 1, 2007

EMERALD ISLE o ATLANTIC BEACH o MOREHEAD CITY o BEAUFORT o CAPE LOOKOUT, N.C. -- In competition with the top travel marketers in 36 countries and 1,200 entries, North Carolina’s Crystal Coast was awarded the Bronze Award for website design on Jan. 29, 2007 at the annual Adrian Awards in New York, presented by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). The Adrian Awards invite the “crème de la crème” of travel marketing professionals and allow only the best of the world’s travel focused marketing companies to walk away with an Adrian.

These coveted awards honor the top of the line in hospitality and travel advertising, making it the largest travel-related competition of its kind in the world. The Crystal Coast received a bronze medal for website design, one of only six destinations websites recognized across the globe. Participants’ results were not judged against each other, but against the goals that were set forth prior to the launch of each campaign. Adrian Awards judges are comprised of public relations, advertising, marketing and Internet professionals, in addition to prominent members of the travel community.

Dangling like a delicate strand of pearls off the coast of North Carolina, the favored Atlantic beach destination of generations represents one of the only remaining natural barrier island systems in the World. The Islands are strung together with 85 miles of silken coastline along the southern Outer Banks, 56 miles of which are in the protected Cape Lookout National Seashore. Miles of shimmering water reflects countless tiny suns during the day and shatters the moon into a thousand pieces at night. Lush maritime forests edge the silken coast like emerald jewels studding a royal crown. The barrier islands take a curious southward curve, blessing the Crystal Coast with beaches that course east and west making it possible to admire the dazzlingly bright sun rise to greet the day and then slip into the shimmering translucent blue waters in the evening during a spectacular North Carolina sunset.
